Even if you suffer from adverse reactions after receiving the vaccine, it is not easy to acknowledge the causality. In April of last year, Nursing Assistant Mr. A was paralyzed in his limbs as a result of an adverse reaction after the vaccination. At that time, President Moon Jae-in personally ordered to review the causality and support the cost of treatment, but 9 months later, would Mr. A have regained his daily life?

We met with reporter Park Soo-jin.

Nursing assistant Mr. A spends most of the day at home.

Going out is all about visiting the hospital for rehabilitation or taking your dog for a walk.

After vaccination in April last year, the diagnosis was acute disseminated encephalomyelitis.

The symptoms of quadriplegia, which could not move the limbs at all, have improved, but the symptoms of numbness in the arms and legs that cannot sleep are still present.

However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did not recognize a causal relationship with vaccination.

Instead, it was included in the 10 million won support for severe medical expenses, and industrial accidents were recognized three months later.

Mr. A thought that he would be able to return to his normal life soon after receiving government support like this.

But, it wasn’t.

The continuous pain even made me sick, and now I am receiving treatment for depression and panic disorder.

It was up to the individual to find a hospital where treatment was possible and to endure the physical and psychological damage.

Psychiatric treatment, such as depression, is not covered by government medical expenses.

The Corona Vaccine Victims and Families Association is requesting the government to designate a hospital that specializes in treating side effects of vaccination, saying that there are not many cases like Mr. A.
