Suncheon, Jeollanam-do wildfire extinguishes for the second day… “Evolution of main fire in the morning”

Yesterday (25th), there was a forest fire in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, and firefighting work continues for the second day.

The fire started around 3:20 pm yesterday in the area of Mt. Pangyo-ri, Seomyeon, Suncheon-si, Jeollanam-do.

The Korea Forest Service’s Central Wildfire Prevention Countermeasures Headquarters announced that as of 9:30 am today, 675 firefighters and 9 helicopters were put in to extinguish the fire.

An official from the Korea Forest Service predicted, “We resumed the firefighting work around 7:30 am, and it is expected that the fire extinguishing will be completed around 10:30 am after a while.”

He also said, “The path of the fire has been blocked, so there is no possibility that it will spread further.”

However, it is said that the firefighting work may be delayed a bit due to the strong wind and the freezing of the water under the influence of the cold wave.

So far, no casualties have been reported by the authorities.

The fire department plans to investigate the cause of the fire as soon as it is extinguished.
