Omicron continues to spread, 33 more people a day… 10 additional local infections


The number of domestic infections of the COVID-19 omicron mutant virus has increased by 33.

The cumulative number was 376.

The Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters (Bangdaebon) announced that as of 00:00 on the 26th, 33 additional cases of Omicron mutation were confirmed.

Among the new confirmed cases of Omicron, 23 were imported from abroad, and 10 were domestic (local infection).

The majority of new imported cases, 15, are those who entered the country from the United States.

Two people came from the UK, and one person came to Korea from the Maldives, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Canada, France, and the Philippines.

Details such as the route of infection and the region of occurrence of new cases of Omicron in Korea have not been confirmed.

Omicron’s ‘nth-order spread’ is in full swing in Korea, with confirmed cases of Omicron having an unknown infection route in the local community.

In the case of the first patient in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, Wonju Restaurant in Gangwon-do, and Geoje in Gyeongnam, it has not been confirmed when, where, or from whom they were infected with Omicron.

A total of 9 cases of n-th infection were officially confirmed until yesterday (25th): ▲ Incheon Michuhol-gu Church ▲ Iranian arrivals-Honam ▲ Jeonbuk Iksan ▲ Gyeongnam Geoje ▲ Daegu U.S. arrival ▲ Gangwon restaurant ▲ Seoul French entry ▲ Gyeongnam U.S. entry ▲This is a case related to an inbound person from the UAE to Busan.

The nth transmission was confirmed in 10 cities and provinces, including Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, Gwangju, Gyeongnam, Daegu, and Busan.

The route of infection of the 376 cumulative Omicron infections is 161 from overseas and 215 from domestic.
