‘Isolation of 13 million people’ 155 confirmed in one day in Xi’an, China… Highest number of confirmed cases after cluster infection

As a cluster of COVID-19 infections occurred in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China, and the entire city was closed, 155 new confirmed cases were counted yesterday (25th).

This is the highest number of confirmed cases since a cluster infection occurred in Xi’an on the 9th.

According to the National Health Commission of China today, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 across China yesterday was 158, of which 155 were in Xi’an.

Accordingly, since the first confirmed case in Xi’an on the 9th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases has risen to 499.

Chinese quarantine authorities have quarantined 13 million residents of Xi’an, tested nucleic acids and traced the route of infection.

The state-run Global Times reported that the outbreak involved multiple infection chains, making epidemiological investigations difficult.

From what has been confirmed so far, it is known that it has a form similar to the virus that was introduced from Pakistan on the 4th.

Most of the coronaviruses that spread in Xi’an are delta mutations, the Global Times reported.

The quarantine authorities said the virus had already spread to six regions across the country, including Beijing and Dongguan City in Guangdong Province.

An official from the quarantine authorities explained, “The characteristic of the virus that spreads in Xi’an is that it shows mild symptoms.

Earlier, since the 22nd, the city-wide lockdown measures have been put in place in Xi’an, such as a total ban on going out for residents, suspension of trains and domestic flights, and closure of highways.

After Wuhan last year and Shijiazhuang earlier this year, it is the third city in China to be completely locked down.
