GSK-Vier Corona 19 antibody treatment large-scale trial in the UK

British pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and American pharmaceutical company Beer Biotechnology (Ver) are conducting a large-scale trial of ‘Sotrovirab’, an antibody treatment for COVID-19.

RECOVERY, which conducts clinical trials related to COVID-19 treatment led by a research team at Oxford University in the UK, said this in a press release on the 23rd local time.

The aim of this study is to determine whether Sotrovirab reduces the risk of inpatient death, shortens the length of hospital stay, or reduces the need for a ventilator.

Recovery said that it is urgent to evaluate alternative treatments for inpatients as several monoclonal antibody treatments, such as ‘Ronapreve’, which have been used for several months, have lost their effectiveness against Omicron, a mutant of COVID-19.
