Germany reports its first Omicron-related death… Seniors over 60


Germany’s Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, announced on the 23rd local time that the first death since infection with Omicron has occurred.

According to RKI data, the age of the deceased is between 60 and 79, and other personal information has not been disclosed.

So far, 3,198 people have been infected with Omicron in Germany, an increase of 810, 25% more than the previous day.

The number of Omicron infections in Germany surged by 328% from the first week to the second week, and a total of 48 patients were treated with Omicron in hospitals.

RKI expects Omicron to become the dominant species in Germany within the next three weeks.
