Our government has also entered into a review of whether to allow an edible corona treatment. Pfizer-made pills are likely to get approval first. As early as a month or so, we will be able to buy corona treatments at pharmacies as long as we have a prescription.

This is an exclusive report by reporter Kim Deok-hyun.

Last month, the government pre-purchased edible corona treatment supplies for 404,000 people.

As a result of the coverage, it was confirmed as a result of the coverage that Merck’s LaGebrio supplies were secured for 264,000 people and Pfizer’s Pax Lovid was secured for 140,000 people.

Following Lagevrio, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety also started reviewing emergency use approval yesterday (22nd) for Paxrovid.

After reviewing relevant data such as effects and side effects, the final approval is decided through expert advisory meetings, etc.

Paxrovid is expected to complete the approval process within the year.

However, the approval of La Gabrio may pass early next year.

As Merck downgraded the severe prevention effect of Lagevrio from 50% to 30%, the quarantine authorities explain that more effectiveness review is needed.

The government is setting the introduction date for early next year, but depending on the outcome of the negotiations, it could be around mid-January at the earliest.

The government has announced that it will take full advantage of the benefits of oral medicines.

The government is also pursuing a plan to purchase more edible medicines.

However, as we saw with the vaccine, the initial quantity is limited and thorough preparation is necessary as countries around the world are competing for advance purchase.
