At least 60 people have been killed when a cargo ship sank off the coast of Madagascar, an island nation in the Indian Ocean off southeast Africa.
On the morning of the 20th, the ‘Francia’ sank off the northeastern coast of Madagascar.
At the beginning of the accident, authorities said 17 people were killed and about 60 people were missing.
However, on the third day of the search, authorities said the death toll had risen to 64, with 24 still missing.
It was confirmed that the Francia was illegally carrying 130 passengers despite being a cargo ship.
The ship sank while leaving the northeastern coastal city of Antanabe on its way to Sonnierrana Ibongo.
