UK Omicron infection ‘doubled’ in one day… 2nd day 90,000 confirmed

In the UK, where Omicron mutation has already become the dominant species, 15,000 people infected with Omicron were added in one day, and the number of new confirmed cases exceeded 90,000. In Russia, more than 1,000 people die every day from the corona virus.

Reporter Ahn Sang-woo summarized the current Corona situation in Europe.

Yesterday (21st) in the UK, about 15,000 people were infected with the Omicron mutation.

The previous day, there were about 8,000 Omicron infections, which nearly doubled in one day.

As the omicron mutation rapidly spread, the number of new cases in the UK exceeded 90,000 for the second day in a row.

The World Health Organization (WHO) warns that the omicron mutation has already become a dominant species not only in the UK, but also in Denmark and Portugal, and that more countries will face the same situation in the future.

As a result, following the UK, Germany also shortened the inoculation interval of the booster shot, that is, the third booster dose, which was initially recommended to be 6 months, to 3 months.

Denmark and Belgium have already reduced the interval between booster shots to 4 and a half months, and Italy to 5 months later.

The quarantine regulations are also being strengthened one after another.

Germany will limit the number of gatherings to 10 people or less and close clubs and discotheques, even for vaccinated persons, from the 28th.

Portugal will suspend nightclubs and bars and start working from home from the 26th to January 9th next year.

The UK and Spain are also constantly reviewing cards to strengthen quarantine regulations during the year-end and New Year holidays.

Meanwhile, in Russia, where the delta mutation is still the dominant species, more than 1,000 COVID-19 deaths occur every day, recording the highest number of deaths in the world.
