Human Rights Commission “Police neglects duty to protect Jeong-in until her right to life is violated”


The National Human Rights Commission of Korea (Human Rights Commission) recommended measures to prevent recurrence, saying that the police neglected their duty to protect the victim in the case of reporting abuse of a 16-month-old adopted child (Jung In-i case). On the 20th, the Human Rights Commission announced that “the police are responsible for neglecting the duty of protection of the state until the victim’s right to life is infringed” in relation to the ‘Jung In-i case’. The Human Rights Commission informs the Commissioner of the National Police Agency on the prevention of child abuse by the police and on-site response.
