A study in Israel found that people over the age of 50 who received a booster dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine in Israel reduced the death rate by 90%.

A research team from Claritt, the largest local medical management organization, Ben-Gurion University, and Safir College, published a report on the death prevention effect of booster shots for 843,208 Clarit’s members in their 50s and older, the International Journal of New England. It was published in of Medicine.

Of these, 775,118 members received the third dose with Pfizer vaccine, and 85,90 members did not receive the third dose.

During the 54-day analysis period, the number of deaths from COVID-19 in the third dose group was 65, or 0.16 per 100,000.

A total of 137 deaths were reported in the unvaccinated group, or 2.98 deaths per 100,000 people.

“The booster shot has been shown to significantly lower the death rate,” said the researchers.
