◇ Broadcasting Culture Promotion Association (Chairman Taeseon Kwon) and MBC (President Seongjae Park) signed an MOU for the establishment of MBC Journalism School at the MBC building in Sangam-dong, Seoul on the 9th. The ‘MBC Journalism School’, which will open on February 14th in the new year, will be operated by selecting 25 full scholarship students with support until the 17th of this month. Secretary-General Jang graduated from the Department of Law at Seoul National University and received a master’s degree from the same school’s graduate school. He entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 15th foreign service examination and served as the Director of the Northeast Asia Bureau, the Personnel Planning Officer, the Regional Trade Cooperation Officer, the Minister of Foreign Affairs to China, the ambassador to Ri Lanka, and the representative of the ROK-US defense cost-sharing negotiation.

◇ Seongju-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do recently received a donation of 1.126 billion won worth of all her life’s wealth from her grandmother Park Ja-yeon (86) who lives in Gacheon-myeon. Park, who could not even attend elementary school, opened a restaurant near Jogyesa Temple in Seoul in the early 1970s and started her own business. The donated property includes a house and two buildings including an art exhibition hall on a land of 1728 m² and forestry of 6287 m2 at the foot of Gayasan National Park, and 106 works of art including paintings and calligraphy works.

◇ On the 9th, Seoul National University received 10 billion won as a ‘Lee Joo-yong and Choi Ki-ju Cultural Center Remodeling Fund’ from Lee Ju-yong, president of KCC Information & Communication, and his wife, Ki-joo Choi, a graduate of the sociology department. The donation will be used for the reconstruction of the Seoul National University Cultural Center, which opened in 1985.

◇ The Forest of Life National Movement (Chairman Sang-man Huh, hereafter referred to as the Forest of Life) held a completion ceremony for the 3rd ‘Woori Financial Forest of Life’ for students’ right to green health and right to learning at Jinmyeong Girls’ High School in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul on the 9th.
