Vanessa Mai: Keeping up with Helene Fischer is not possible

Pop star Vanessa Mai, 29, began her career in 2012 with the band “Wolkenfrei”. At this point in time, Helene Fischer, 37, was already successful and Germany’s favorite folk music model. Today Mai made it to the Schlager Olympics herself, and her current pop-hit album “Mai Tai” achieved chart success. But the beginnings were anything but easy. On the YouTube channel “Brust raus” of the radio station “Dasding” Vanessa speaks openly about the pressure to succeed that weighed on her back then.

“My very first headline when I was 20 was: ‘Is Vanessa Mai the new Helene Fischer?'”, She recalls. The pressure from outside pelted the young artist unfiltered. There was hope that the musician would follow in Fischer’s footsteps. “That has accompanied and burdened me throughout my Schlager career,” admits the 29-year-old. For a long time she tried to achieve Helene’s success, but then had to admit that she couldn’t do it. “It wasn’t possible to keep up,” says Vanessa Mai.

Today she is at peace with herself and says: “To be compared with someone who has been in the industry for ten years, who has been much further and to be able to keep up is not possible.”

Jürgen Drews reports on a traumatic skiing accident with his daughter

Pop star Jürgen Drews, 76, reveals in his podcast “The King’s New Podcast” why his daughter Joelina Drews, 26, did not want to go on a ski slope for years. To blame was an accident from childhood, in which father and daughter lost their way together and ended up in the ditch. At that time, Drews buried three-year-old Joelina under himself. He suggested that they get on the skis together and run down the mountain together. “It’s not too steep here, it’s very wide. We have to be careful back there, we’re going into the ditch. But we have enough space,” the 76-year-old remembers his words.

Suddenly everything happened very quickly. “I drifted over a little bump over it – and fell over. And with Joelina slipped between my legs and her skis in the ditch – and on top of her,” explains Drews in the podcast. Fortunately, everything turned out fine: Neither of the two was injured. But: Joelina “had developed a little trauma”, remembers Drews and initially didn’t want to know anything about skiing. The now 26-year-old would have found her love for winter sports during puberty. “All’s well that ends well”, the “Everything under control” interpreter looks back on the experience today.

Andrea Berg: Tears burst at the Advent festival

When Florian Silbereisen, 40, calls, they all come: for the “Advent Festival of 100,000 Lights”, the pop singer lit the first candles with many stars and got the audience in the mood for the most contemplative time of the year with the most beautiful Advent and Christmas carols. Andrea Berg, 55, couldn’t be missing either, of course. And the “mosaic” interpreter “made a particularly emotional appearance.

She performed her song “Mamatschi”, the original hit child star Heintje sang. “Because, especially at Christmas time, we sometimes forget what really matters. Not the unpacking, but the togetherness,” she explained, explaining her choice of songs. After her performance, the pop singer was overwhelmed by her feelings. With regard to the corona pandemic, the 55-year-old singer said: “Maybe it’s a bit of the key at this time: that we learn something. That which is really important, to be with each other, to love each other.” With these words, Florian Silbereisen found it difficult to hold back tears.
