Prosecutors investigating the Daejang-dong development preferential treatment summoned former special prosecutor Park Young-soo, who is suspected of a ‘5 billion won club’, to investigate. The 5 billion won club refers to the list of political figures who have been promised 5 billion won from Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management (Hwacheon Daeyu), and in this list, former special prosecutor Park was mentioned. Former special prosecutor Park and his relatives are suspected of receiving money and valuables from businesses in Daejang-dong. The daughter of former special prosecutor Park became controversial after receiving an apartment sold by Hwacheon Daeyu at a lower price than the market price in June of this year. Former Special Prosecutor Park served as an advisor to Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management (Hwacheon Daeyu) from April 2016 to November of the same year, and his daughter also worked for Hwacheon Daeyu. At the beginning of the Daejang-dong project, Mr. Lee, the representative of a sales agency, a relative of the former special prosecutor, received 2 billion won from the CEO of a civil engineering company in the name of solicitation for a business right in Daejang-dong. There is also a suspicion that he received and delivered to Mr. When the Central Investigation Department of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office investigated the illegal loan case of the Busan Savings Bank in 2011, suspicions were raised that former special prosecutor Park was behind the investigation even though businesses in Daejang-dong received about 110 billion won in loans from the bank. Former special prosecutor Park is known to have defended Mr. Cho, who arranged illegal loans during the investigation by the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office.
