“Lindenstrasse” star died of kidney failure

The mourning for the popular “Lindenstrasse” actor Kostas Papanastasiou is also great just a week after his death. As the actor’s son now reveals to “Bild”, Papanastasiou’s demise came too suddenly for the family too.
Kostas Papanastasiou is buried in Greece
As Marc-Alexey Papanastasiou explains, his father was hospitalized on Friday, November 19, 2021. There they spoke of a urinary tract infection. “In the end he died of kidney failure. He just fell asleep on the night of Death Sunday,” said Marc-Alexey. He received the news of the death of the 84-year-old by telephone. However, Papanastasiou’s son had already plagued a queasy feeling, so that he said goodbye to his father shortly before. “I had a few more important things to say.”
The funeral of the “Lindenstrasse” star will take place close to the family. It was the actor’s last wish to be buried in his birthplace in Greece. In Germany there will be a commemoration which is supposed to be “not a dreary evening”. One thing shouldn’t be missing: Baileys for everyone who comes. “If my father ever drank alcohol, it was Baileys,” says Marc-Alexey Papanastasiou.
Kostas Papanastasiou is suffering from dementia
At the end of 2019, Kostas Papanastasiou moved into assisted living with his wife due to his dementia. “He noticed that he was forgetting things. He fell in front of the house and broke his pelvis. That meant he had to go to the hospital. Later he came to assisted living,” said his son.
Mourning for Winnetou’s little sister
Kostas Papanastasiou, who was born in 1937 in Karditsa, Greece, embodied the innkeeper Panaiotis Sarikakis, who ran the “Acropolis” in “Lindenstrasse”. He played the role that made him famous from 1985 to 1996. In addition to acting, Papanastasiou appeared as a musician. In Berlin he also ran a Greek pub that also gave concerts. His son took over in 2018. In 2012 Kostas Papanastasiou was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his social commitment.
