His wife remembers her husband’s last days
After the death of Volker Lechtenbrink, his wife Gül Ural-Aytekin-Lechtenbrink speaks up and talks about the last days and hours of the popular actor.
With the death of Volker Lechtenbrink, a great actor from TV and theater passed away. Born in East Prussia, he became known in 1959 for the anti-war film “Die Brücke” and subsequently played in series and films such as “Der Kommissar”, “Derrick” and “Tatort” and was also a voice actor, director and country and pop singer.
On November 23, 2021, his agency announced that Lechtenbrink had died at the age of 77 as a result of a serious illness.
Humorous until the end
The TV star had been with family for the last hours of his life. This is now confirmed by his wife Gül Ural-Aytekin-Lechtenbrink, 55, on “Bild”:
“My husband was a great and unique person, his audience loved him. […] Until the end, he always encouraged others with his style. He never whined, was humorous until the end. Everything he did was always 100 percent. At the end he was in Hamburg in the hospice for three weeks. I was always with him and accompanied him to the end with the older daughter Saskia. My husband wasn’t alone for a minute. “

Lechtenbrink planned the funeral himself; it will take place in his adopted home, Hamburg. “That was his wish,” says his wife.
Volker Lechtenbrink and Gül Ural-Aytekin-Lechtenbrink married in 2015 and lived together in Hamburg. For the actor it was already the fifth marriage. From his previous relationships, he has a son and two daughters.
