‘Disappearance’ Peng Somi, on the phone with the IOC… Are you worried about the Olympic boycott?

Chinese tennis star Feng Xiaoyi, who was rumored to be missing after revealing that she was sexually assaulted by a former deputy prime minister of China, has recently been released one after another.

The international community has raised the issue one after another and it has also led to a boycott movement for the Beijing Winter Olympics, reports Kim Ji-seong, a correspondent in Beijing.

This is a video call between the International Olympic Committee and IOC President Bach and Shen Feng.

It was released by the IOC at dawn on the 22nd, and it is reported that Feng Shunyi said, “I am doing well and safely at home” in the presence of a Chinese IOC member.

A day earlier, the editor of China’s state-run Global Times posted on social media a video of Shun Feng attending a youth tennis match and eating at a restaurant with acquaintances.

It has been 19 days since Peng Shuyi disappeared from public view after posting on social media that she had been sexually assaulted by former Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaori on the 2nd.

Meanwhile, world-class tennis stars, including Djokovic and Naomi, were concerned about Feng’s safety, and it spread to the boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

As other countries, following the United States and the United Kingdom, began to review diplomatic boycotts for the Olympics, China hastily disclosed Peng’s current situation and is believed to have started evolving.

However, the question still remains as to why Peng Shunyi did not directly express his position and whether there was no coercion by the Chinese government.

There are also criticisms that the IOC should be more proactive in addressing Peng’s personal safety rather than rushing to host the Olympics.
