Fauci “If you are over 18, get a booster shot”… Notice of expansion of inoculation

“If you’re over 18, go get a booster shot,” said Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), an infectious disease authority in the United States.

According to The Hill, a political media outlet in the US, Fauci appeared on MSNBC and said, “It is highly likely that the US federal health authorities will soon expand the scope of the COVID-19 booster vaccination to all adults.”

“The vaccine’s effectiveness gradually diminishes over several months,” he said.

Then, he emphasized the need to expand the target of booster vaccination to all adults, introducing the results of Israeli and British studies that showed that receiving a booster shot “dramatically improves the probability of infection, serious illness, and mortality” with COVID-19.

“As we enter winter, the virus will spread as the weather gets colder and the rate of indoor activity rises,” said Fauci, the White House’s chief medical adviser.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to make a decision to expand the coverage of Pfizer and Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine booster shots to all adults 18 years of age or older who have been vaccinated for six months.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is also holding a meeting on the subject of booster shots.

With approval from both agencies, anyone over the age of 18 in the United States will be able to get the booster shot starting this weekend.

U.S. President Joe Biden promised in August that he would give every American adult a booster shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Ahead of Thanksgiving and winter, as concerns grow over the spread of COVID-19, some states and local governments have proactively expanded the target of the booster shot to all adults without waiting for a federal health decision.
