The Ministry of Unification “Resumes the tour to Panmunjom on the 30th of this month”… ‘Raising a problem’ to the UNC during the consultation process
The tour to Panmunjeom, which was temporarily suspended in July to prevent the spread of COVID-19, will resume from the 30th.
The Ministry of Unification said that it had consulted with related organizations such as the UN Command and that it was first conducted once a day in consideration of the quarantine situation, and the number of people to visit was set at 20.
Those who wish to visit the tour support center website (
www.panmuntour.go.kr) to apply online.
Priority will be given to those who were unable to participate due to the suspension of the tour last July.
However, the Ministry of Unification said that participants can only participate if they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and have tested negative within 3 days of the tour date.
The Ministry of Unification announced that it will increase the number and number of field trips in cooperation with the UN Command as soon as the quarantine situation improves.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Unification official said, “We have been discussing the issue of resumption of field trips from November 1 with the United Nations,” and mentioned that there were some problems in the consultation process.
The official said, “There have been situations in which the progress of consultations and the contents of the consultations were disclosed twice without prior explanation (by the UNC). “He said.
It is somewhat unusual for the Ministry of Unification to publicly state that it has raised a problem with the UNC, but it is interpreted as reiterating the position that the UNC’s unilateral action is inappropriate.
The official said that the UNC confirmed its position to cooperate with the Ministry of Unification based on consultations between the two organizations in raising the issue.
