Man sentenced to 41 months in prison for breaking into Congress

Jacob Chansley, nicknamed ‘Shaman’ by the far-right conspiracy group ‘QAnon’ during the US Capitol raid in January this year, was sentenced to 41 months in prison.

According to CNN and BBC broadcasting on the 17th local time, Judge Lois Rambus of the Washington DC District Court sentenced Chansley to 41 months in prison and ordered three years of probation and $100 in damages.

Chansley was charged with breaking into the Capitol for the first time with about 30 people during a parliamentary riot on January 6th.

Judge Rambus said the reason for the sentencing was that “the accused committed a crime that interfered with the functioning of the government.”

In court that day, Chansley said he regrets the crime, but insisted that he was not a mob, a terrorist or a white supremacist, but “a good man who broke the law.”

Earlier this month, Scott Fairram was also sentenced to 41 months in prison for assaulting a police officer and obstruction of justice during a parliamentary riot.
