Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, the men’s professional volleyball team, took the second place Hyundai Capital with Kyle Russell, a foreign player who recorded a triple crown, and ignited a battle for the rankings.
Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance won the professional volleyball Dodram 2021-2022 V League men’s team Hyundai Capital at home at Chungmu Gymnasium in Daejeon with a set score of 3-1 (25-18 25-19 23-25 25-13).
With this victory, Samsung Fire & Marine broke the chain of losing 5 consecutive matches against Hyundai Capital, jumping from 6th to 4th.
The difference between 2nd place Hyundai Capital and 6th place Korean Air is only 2 points.
In the first round, despite the injury of foreign player Ronald Jimenez, in the first round, the Korean players showed a good performance, but in this game, the players showed physical problems and hardly had any strength.
Samsung F&M did not miss this opportunity.
With the foreigner Kyle Russell at the fore, he easily caught the 1st and 2nd sets and created a ‘shutout’ atmosphere.
However, in the 3rd set, which was a fierce game, the concentration at the last minute fell and the set was unfortunately abandoned.
At 22-23, Hwang Seung-bin’s serve was out as it was, leading to a two-point gap, and at 23-24, the opposing team’s open attack could not be prevented.
Based on their superiority in physical strength, Samsung Fire & Marine took the lead again from the beginning of the 4th set.
Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, led by Russell and Kyung-Min Hwang, ended the game early by running away by a 14-4, 10-point difference.
Russell scored 9 points in back-attacking, 3 points in blocking and 5 points in serving, achieving his sixth personal triple crown.
He also scored 30 points, the most for both teams.
Jung Sung-gyu from the same team also did his part with 16 points, including 6 sub-aces.
Hyundai Capital briefly put Jimenez in the second set, but it collapsed without being able to bring about a major change of atmosphere.
In the women’s match held at Gwangju Pepper Stadium, 1st place Hyundai E&C easily defeated 6th place Pepper Savings Bank with a set score of 3-0 (25-18 25-17 25-18) and recorded 8 consecutive wins after the opening.
It is the first time that Hyundai E&C has won more than 8 consecutive wins since it won 10 consecutive games from GS Caltex on January 22, 2011 to Heungkuk Life Insurance on March 10.
Hyundai E&C maintained its No. 1 position by increasing the gap with second-placed KGC Ginseng Corporation to 5.
Hyundai E&C attacked Pepper Savings Bank through various routes as well as foreign player Yasmin.
Center Yang Hyo-jin and Lee Da-hyeon each succeeded in blocking three each, raising 13 points and 10 points.
