Kim Min-seok wins the first 1.500m of the World Cup

Kim Min-seok, a Korean speed skating mid- and long-distance champion, bronze medalist at the Pyeongchang Olympics, won his first World Cup individual event.

Kim Min-seok passed the finish line the fastest in the 1.500 m in the first round of the World Cup held in Poland at 1:46.152 and took first place.

The first 300m section passed in 6th place, but it gradually increased the speed and finished the 1,500m race with a scary spurt, outpacing the 2nd place Chinese athlete by 0.03 seconds.

Kim Min-seok, who became the first Asian to win an Olympic medal in the 1,500 m at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics when he was 19 years old, is the first Asian to win the World Cup series.

Kim Min-seok took the top spot at the Four Continents Championships in February last year, but the bronze medal was the best in the 1,500m World Cup series.

Kim Min-seok participated in an international competition for the first time in 1 year and 8 months due to the spread of Corona 19, but he rose to the top of the world with a stormy run and announced the prospect of a medal at the Beijing Olympics.

In the women’s division, they failed to win a medal on the second day of the competition.

In the women’s 500m second race, Kim Min-seon finished 17th out of 20 with a time of 38.521, and in the 1,000m, Kim Hyun-young stayed 17th with a time of 1:18.164.
