A cluster of COVID-19 cases occurred at the Central Veterans’ Hospital in Gangdong-gu, Seoul.

According to officials from the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the Korea Veterans Affairs and Welfare Service, as of the morning of the 13th, a total of 58 people were confirmed in three wards in the Central Veterans’ Hospital.

The confirmed cases include 34 inpatients, 22 caregivers, and 2 hospital staff.

It is understood that the first confirmed case occurred on the 11th, and thereafter, in the process of additional testing, there were a lot of confirmed cases.

All three wards with confirmed cases are located in the same building, and they do not have intensive care units.

The hospital is conducting a full examination centered on the ward where it occurred, and there is a possibility that more confirmed cases will come out.

Veterans’ hospitals are mainly used by elderly veterans.

The hospital urgently moved the confirmed patients to a dedicated ward for COVID-19 in the hospital, while also implementing quarantine measures for the ward where the outbreak occurred.

Central Veterans’ Hospital has been designated as a dedicated hospital for COVID-19 since the end of last year.
