Figure skating swimmer wins consecutive bronze medals at Grand Prix… 2nd Korean female athlete

Korean figure skating women’s single signboard Yoo Young succeeded in winning the bronze medal in the senior Grand Prix consecutive competition.

In the NHK Trophy Women’s Single Free Skating, the 4th International Skating Federation (ISU) Senior Grand Prix of 2021-2022 held at Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, Yoo Young earned a technical score of 69.03 and an artistic score of 67.49. A total of 135.52 points was obtained by adding one deduction point.

Yoo Young added 68.08 points in the short program to finish third with a total score of 203.60.

Yoo Young, who won the bronze medal with 216.97 points in the first Grand Prix competition held in Las Vegas last month, also succeeded in winning the prize in this competition, establishing the pride of Korean figure skating.

It is the first time in 12 years since Yuna Kim (retired) in November 2009 that a Korean female athlete won two medals in a row in the Senior Grand Prix Series.

Junhwan Cha is the only male player to win two bronze medals in the 2018-2019 season.

Yooyoung recorded 22 ranking points while winning medals in both competitions she participated in.

It is not easy, but depending on the performance of the competitors in the 5th and 6th rounds, you can also aim for the senior grand prix final stage.

Figure skaters can compete in the Senior Grand Prix up to two times in a season, with ranking points awarded for winning 15 points, runner-up 13 points, and third-place 11 points.

If you are in the top 6 of the competition, you will advance to the Grand Prix Final.

Eun-soo Lim, who participated in the event, finished fifth with 196.68 points, and Seo-young Wi finished ninth with 170.54 points.

First place went to Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto with a score of 223.34, and second place went to Japan’s Kawabe Manada with 205.44 points.

The difference between Swimming and Kawabe is only 1.84 points.
