Male weightlifting prospects Daehee Kwon (15, weight in Daegu) and Minjae Jeong (15, Chilwon Middle School in Gyeongnam) set a new record for the total of Korean middle school students.
Daehee Kwon won the men’s 73kg class at the National Middle School Weightlifting Competition held at the Seocheon County Community Center in Chungcheongnam-do on the 11th, lifting 121kg, jerking 155kg, and totaling 276kg.
Kim Seong-ho (15, Daegu weight), who placed 2nd in this weight class, had a total record of 220 kg (impression 100 kg, jerk 120 kg).
Daehee Kwon fought against records, not rankings.
He lifted 155kg from the Jeep and set a new record by 4kg, exceeding the 73kg-class Korean middle school student record of 151kg, which he set at the spring weightlifting competition in April of this year.
At the same time, a new record for Korean middle school students in the 73kg class was also created.
The previous record holder for this weight class was also Kwon Dae-hee.
Kwon Dae-hee, who set the record for a Korean middle school student by lifting a total of 275 kg at the Boys’ Sports Festival in July this year, broke the record again in four months.
In the men’s 67kg class, Min-jae Jeong set the record for Korean middle school students in raise and total.
Jung Min-jae lifted 111 kg in the first period in the hike, exceeding the record of 110 kg for a Korean middle school student set by Kim Jung-min in August last year.
Jung Min-jae succeeded in the second period (115 kg) and the third period (118 kg) one after another, increasing the record of raising the 67 kg Korean middle school student to 118 kg.
In the 67kg class, Jo Jae-hoon (15, Seonghwan middle school) took the first place by setting a new record for a Korean middle school student in this weight class at 142kg.
Jo Jae-hoon surpassed the 141kg he made by 1kg in the Boys’ Sports Festival in July of this year.
Jung Min-jae finished third with 128 kg in Jerk.
However, thanks to a good record in the impression, he won the championship with a total of 246 kg, beating Cho Jae-hoon (total of 242 kg).
Jung Min-jae’s total record of 246 kg is a new record for a Korean middle school student in the 67 kg class, exceeding the 245 kg Kim Jung-min made in August last year by 1 kg.
