The Doosan Bears, a professional baseball team, defeated the Samsung Lions in the first game of the playoffs and succeeded in dominating the baseline, taking an advantageous position to advance to the Korean Series for the seventh year in a row.
Doosan defeated home team Samsung 6-4 in the away match of the first leg of the 2021 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO Playoff (PO. Best of 3) held at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu.
Starter Won-Jun Choi allowed 5 hits and 4 walks in 4 and ⅓ innings, but stopped with 2 runs and went down, and then Hong Gun-hee stopped 3 innings with 3 hits and 1 run, becoming the winning pitcher.
In the batting line, Kim Jae-hwan played 3 hits and Kang Seung-ho had 2 hits and 2 RBIs, and Park Se-hyuk took the lead in the victory by hitting a home run against Samsung finisher Oh Seung-hwan in the early ninth inning.
With this, Doosan, who placed 4th in the regular season, will be in the Korean Series for 7 consecutive years by adding one win from the remaining 2nd and 3rd games.
In the POs of 37 times (including both major leagues from 1999 to 2000), which were played in a 3 out of 5 system or a 4 out of 7 system until last year, the team that won the first round entered the Korean Series (KS) 29 times and the probability of winning the series was 78.4. % or so.
Doosan also had a five-game winning streak against Samsung in the postseason since Game 2 of the Korean Series in 2015.
Samsung suffered a disappointing defeat at home as they hardly hit the right time even after getting 9 hits and 6 walks.
With Doosan taking the lead, the second game of the playoffs will be held tomorrow (10th) at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.
